Natural Deodorant: A Deeper Look At Our Ingredients (A Video From Our Founder)

At Primally Pure, we’ve spent years researching and formulating with safe, effective ingredients to create a gentle, non-toxic deodorant that does it all: protecting against unwanted odor while nourishing even the most sensitive skin.

It all started 5 years ago when I began to get serious about researching natural ingredients, gathering regular feedback from friends + family and consistently refining my formula until I created a deodorant stick that was safe for sensitive skin and still strong enough to keep even the most active person feeling fresh all day long (any other moms out there trying to keep up with their toddlers?).

ARROWROOT POWDER


Contains powerful moisture-absorbing properties (a.k.a. it works like a natural anti-perspirant but without blocking pores!), while leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. This lightweight powder also has a long history of being an herbal remedy for soothing various skin issues such as infections + irritations, making it the perfect ingredient for nourishing your delicate underarms.



ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL


Rich in anti-inflammatory + anti-bactierial benefits, it’s a star player in protecting against unwanted odor, calming inflammation and helping to hydrate skin. A main component of coconut oil is lauric acid, which effectively keeps bacteria at bay – especially the kind that make their homes in our armpits and produces odor.



TALLOW FROM GRASS-FED COWS


This unlikely ingredient is actually packed with with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Grass-fed tallow contains Vitamin E, D, A and K (in a balanced combination with their activators), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) which is anti-inflammatory as well as palmitoleic acid which has natural antimicrobial properties.



ORGANIC BEESWAX


With powerful antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic and antibacterial benefits, it protects skin from infection + irritation while sealing in moisture. Beeswax is also rich in Vitamin A which helps to support lasting hydration and skin healing at a cellular level.



BAKING SODA


Baking soda is an incredibly effective odor-fighting + moisture absorbing ingredient, but can sometimes cause irritation for some skin types when used in high concentrations. Through years of trial + error, we’ve formulated our deodorant with the perfect amount of baking soda – enough to combat odor but not enough to cause irritation for the vast majority of people.



NON-NANO ZINC OXIDE


This mineral has a long standing history of benefits along with its powerful anti-bacterial, antiseptic and astringent properties that combat bacteria, reduce odor and protect the skin barrier. It works similarly to an antiperspirant by minimizing moisture, but without being absorbed by the skin or having any negative health effects.



WHITE KAOLIN CLAY


This natural clay contains potent detoxifying properties to pull out toxins + purify the skin while leaving even sensitive skin types protected. This soothing, gentle clay is rich in minerals is also extremely absorbent to balance oil production and absorb excess moisture – helping to keep you feeling dry all day.



ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OILS


Scented with only organic essential oils to help purify skin and control odor (plus, have a positive impact on your mood + mind!), you won’t find any fake + chemical-filled fragrances (even “natural” ones) in our deodorant.

 

 

My purpose in starting Primally Pure from my farmhouse kitchen several years ago was to help provide safe alternatives (that actually work!) to dangerous conventional deodorant and to support you as you transition to truly safe, natural skincare products.
