Nourishing Beef Bone Broth

Beef bone broth is a beauty superfood that helps to restore the gut microbiome, boost the immune system and rebuild collagen + hyaluronic acid production for firmer, clearer skin from within. PP tip: Sprinkle in a little turmeric and black pepper for added anti-inflammatory support!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Primal Pastures beef bones
  • 1 large brown onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 3 cloves garlic smashed
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 sprig of thyme
  • 1 sprig of oregano
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil or beef tallow

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spread the beef bones on a sheet tray and roast them for 25-30 minutes until brown. Set aside to cool.
  2. Peel carrots and onion and cut them into medium-sized pieces. Cut celery into medium-sized pieces. Smash and peel garlic cloves. Set all veggies aside.
  3. Place a 6 quart pot on the stove top on medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil or beef tallow and sauté onion, carrots, celery, and garlic for two minutes. Add the beef bones, peppercorns, thyme, oregano, and bay leaves, and then add water until covered. Bring to a simmer. For the first five minutes of simmer take a spoon and skim any gray buildup that comes to the top. Continue to simmer broth for 2 hours - don’t boil! After 2 hours, strain broth into a bowl, cool rapidly in the fridge, and then transfer to jars for storage.
