Regenerative Growth
Today’s Reflection
We are regenerative beings — our lives, regenerative gardens.
Just as the health of the soil determines the nutrient density and beauty of the plant, the soil of our lives impacts us in a similar way. Our soil is a blend of both our external surroundings and our internal worlds — creating conditions that help us thrive, or cause us to wither away.
It’s crucial to consider the quality of the soil we’re growing in: Is it depleted and in need of restored diversity and nutrients? Is it desperate to slow down and sync with the seasons? Is it flourishing with little shoots starting to surface? Are flowers and fruits in full bloom that you’ve been patiently anticipating?
In the wellness world, we often strive towards self-improvement and becoming the best version of ourselves — leaving ourselves better than before. Just like the land, similar to the soil.
But unlike conventional farming practices, which relies on endless weeding, tilling and tending, regenerative farming doesn’t require force or a faster pace. Instead, this regenerative way of farming, and of living, insists on a slower pace – surrendering to the seasons and cycles, trusting the process, and knowing that the deep work within the soil will naturally and effortlessly give way to growth.
May we lean into the lessons of the soil for the health of our soul. Welcoming an ease in the growth, embracing the natural ebbs and flows, and trusting in time that fruit will inevitably bloom in its own way, at its own pace.
Today’s Ritual
Once you know the current state of your soil and get clear on what you want to yield this year, you can tend to your soil and take steps towards the growth of your own regenerative garden within you and around you. Grab a pen and paper and take some time to reflect in your own beauty journal:
What is the state of your soil?
What do you want to yield this year? What fruit do you want for your life?
What conventional practices do you need to pause?
What regenerative philosophies do you want to embrace?
What needs weeding? What needs watering?
May we receive inspiration from the wisdom of the soil – embracing a gentler approach to growth and building our regenerative gardens, our lives, on the foundation of rest and trust.
